Explanation/Rationale:
· Term Crossroads means where units intersect or meet in some fashion boundaries, sharing of resources, transportation, gov’t, facilities, or more simply put---our new Family of Parishes cross/ encompass many roads.
· Kinkora, Mitchell & Dublin are all parish communities within the County of Perth accessed off #8 Hwy.
· Seaforth and a small corner of St. Patrick’s parish lie within Huron County borders but are also along #8 Hwy.
· All 4 parishes border on Hwy. # 8— a main Provincial Hwy. Although Kinkora village cannot be seen off Hwy. # 8, the large stone cairn at the highway marks the road leading through to Kinkora. Perhaps a little more noticeable sign could be added there near the historical cairn identifying the community.
· Perth County’s westerly border crossing Hwy. 8 is County Rd. # 180 across which lies Huron County continuing westward taking in St. James Parish. Parish offices are located at the crossroads along Rd. 180 in Perth County. For GPS and postal purposes, the office address is identified as being on Rd. 180
· Using Perth-Huron rather than Huron-Perth gives a distinction for the churches from the name used by the local School Board, Huron-Perth Deanery, Health Unit, and numerous other agencies in this area. As well, 3 of the 4 parishes lie within Perth County.
· With a little graphic design work, one can easily insert the symbol of a cross through the letters with an up-right line representing Hwy. # 8 and the horizontal representing Rd. 180. The background could depict the rural and small-town environment differing from the city. With unanimous team supports the name is amended to “PERTH HURON CROSSROADS CATHOLIC FAMILY OF PARISHES.”
