Amoris Laetitia or "The Joy of Love" is an apostolic exhortation by Pope Francis addressing the pastoral care of families, released on April 8, 2016, following the Synods on the Family held in 2014 and 2015. It covers a wide range of topics related to marriage and family life, and the challenges faced by families today. It encourages both pastors and lay people to "accompany" and care for families and others - especially those in need. The text also includes the Pope's reflection on the meaning of love in the everyday life of a family.
This resource comprises nine, 7-8 minute videos and is designed to be used by individuals or in groups gathered in diocesan, parish or school settings. Pope Francis invites us to study the document carefully when he says, “…I do not recommend a rushed reading of the text. The greatest benefit, for families themselves and for those engaged in the family apostolate, will come if each part is read patiently and carefully, or if attention is paid to the parts dealing with their specific needs” (AL, n. 7).
